From the Toronto Real Estate Board today, the start to the year in sales is active with price increases.
It appear that the increase in sales is up by 6.1 % and also the number of new listings is also up, outrunning the sales by an increase of 9.5 percent.
With the average price being up 4.9% over the same time last year.
" The January results represent good news on multiple fronts. First strong sales growth suggests the home buyers continue to see housing as a quality long term investment, despite the recent economic uncertainty. Second, the fact that the new listings grew at a faster pace then sales suggests that it has become easier for some people to find a home that meets their needs," said Mr. Etherington, president of the Toronto Real Estate Board.
So what do we think about all of this? well, I believe this along with the report earlier this past week that Toronto has been given the honor of being the top place to live in the world, gives us all a great confidence that even if we see some correction, it will be soft and we will all still benefit from home ownership if we consider housing a long term investment.
